This is the first of two images that were originally taken during a trip to Hawaii after Huricane Iniki passed over the island of Kauai (unfortunately they were originally on slide film and the color has yellowed with age - only so much can be done in Photoshop).

This is an image of Rancho Bernardo Rd. from the top of our back yard terrace. The fire broke out in the early afternoon - by dinner time we were evaculated and several houses sustained damage, some severe at the base of the hill two blocks from our street. It was close; thank goodness for some of the best firefighters in the world that saved our community!

On a trip to look for cabins in North Carolina I happened upon this burned out house. The light was just right and the brambles in front added nice depth to the image. I seem to have a thing for images of damaged buildings.
